Opportunity Drawing Rules and Regulations:
Opportunity drawing to take place during the Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles’ (“Advancing Justice – LA”) 6th Annual Pro Bono Advisory Council Volunteer Awards Mixer ("Volunteer Awards Mixer") on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.  The Grand Prize Winner will receive a prize to be announced (the “Grand Prize”).  Attendance at the Volunteer Awards Mixer is not required to participate in the opportunity drawing, and winners need not be present to win.
Advancing Justice – LA and the Prize donors reserve the right to add and/or substitute the items to be awarded as Prizes in the opportunity drawing in their sole discretion.  The Prizes are not redeemable for cash, are non-transferable and cannot be substituted.  The winner of any Prize shall be solely responsible for all taxes, registration, costs, fees, charges, surcharges, payments and other amounts arising from or in connection with the winning or acceptance of such Prize, all of which must be paid according to Prize donors’ rules, and such payment is a condition precedent to the delivery of the Prize.  By way of example only and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, current IRS regulations require the winner of a noncash prize valued at over $5,000 in any opportunity drawing to pay the sponsoring organization of the opportunity drawing 28% of the fair market value of the prize minus the amount paid for the opportunity drawing ticket, which must be reported and paid to the IRS by the sponsoring organization to satisfy the withholding tax obligation.  For any Prize valued at $600 or more, the Prize Winner will receive an IRS Form W-2G reflecting the fair market value of the Prize.  Each winner also agrees to provide his or her social security number, furnish two forms of identification and execute and, if applicable, have notarized any and all agreements, forms, affidavits, releases and other documents, each in a form specified by Advancing Justice – LA.  If a winner fails to pay any taxes, costs, fees, charges, payments or other amounts or complete any agreement, form, affidavit, release or other document in full, or otherwise fails to satisfy any requirement or condition for the awarding of his or her Prize, as required by Advancing Justice – LA in its sole discretion within the time period set by Advancing Justice – LA, such winner shall be deemed to have declined his or her respective Prize and Advancing Justice – LA shall be authorized to award, and such winner consents to the awarding of, the Prize to another opportunity drawing participant in the sole discretion of Advancing Justice – LA.
Entrants in the opportunity drawing for any Prize must be a legal resident of the continental U.S., 18 years of age or older.  Employees of Advancing Justice – LA are not eligible to enter.
Opportunity drawing tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis and may be purchased at a cost of $10.00 per ticket.  No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold.  Odds of winning depend on the actual number of valid entries received.  Entries sent by mail or email must be received by 5 pm PDT on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 for consideration in the drawing at the Volunteer Awards Mixer.  Any tickets not sold prior to the date of the drawing will be sold at the Volunteer Awards Mixer.  Only official tickets will be accepted.  Void where prohibited or restricted by law.  Advancing Justice – LA is not responsible for lost, illegible or incomplete entries.  Entrants will receive ticket stubs by mail or ticket numbers by e-mail depending on purchase date.  The winning ticket numbers will be posted on the Advancing Justice – LA Web site at on or about Friday, February 28, 2020.
By entering this opportunity drawing and/or accepting any Prize entrants agree, represent and warrant that: [1] entrants will abide by and be bound by the official rules and Advancing Justice – LA’s decisions, which shall be final in all respects; [2] entrants release and hold harmless Advancing Justice – LA and the Prize donors and providers from any and all liability for claims, injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including without limitation, death and bodily injury, resulting, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the awarding, delivery, acceptance, use, misuse, possession, loss or misdirection of any Prize or participation in the opportunity drawing or any opportunity drawing-related activity or travel; [3] the Prizes are awarded “as is” and without warranty of any kind, express or implied, (including, without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose) and [4] winner’s acceptance of a Prize constitutes the grant to Advancing Justice – LA and the Prize donors and providers and assigns of an unconditional right to use each winner’s name, address (city and state only), voice, likeness, photograph, biographical and Prize information and/or statements about the promotion for any programming, publicity, advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation or notice to, or any consent by, the winner, except to the extent prohibited by law.
Advancing Justice – LA and Prize donors reserve the right to amend or supplement these Rules and Regulations at any time and without notice to ticket holders.  All Prizes are subject to all other award terms, conditions, specifications, procedures and policies that may be set forth by the Prize donors.  To obtain complete and up-to-date Rules and Regulations call (213) 977-7500 ext. 850.  For more information, visit
