APALC commemorates 12th death anniversary of Pinoy hate crime victim

The Asian Pacific American Legal Center and the Ileto family held a gathering last Aug. 10 to commemorate the hate crime killing of Filipino-American postal worker Joseph Ileto and to raise awareness to prevent future hate crimes.
 
The commemorative event was held last Wednesday, August 10 at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, 1145 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles. The opening remarks were given by Stewart Kwoh, Asian Pacific American Legal Center Executive Director, and Ismael Ileto, brother of Joseph Ileto. The program included a presentation on Untold Civil Rights Stories: Asian Americans Speak Out for Justice and spoken word performances by community members. The mother of Joseph, Lilian Ileto, was also present.
