Viewpoints: Remap a mixed bag for Asian communities

The California Citizens Redistricting Commission on Friday released the final proposed maps for the Assembly, state Senate, Board of Equalization and California congressional districts.
Many articles published since the release of the first mapping proposals in June have focused on whether the proposals will lead to competitive elections and how the maps will affect incumbents. Most of those articles mention proposed districts in which two incumbents would have to compete against each other. The articles focus on only one point of view – that of the politicians.
