Advancing Justice-LA In-Language Helplines Continue to be a Resource for Community Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

LOS ANGELES, CA —  As community members face uncertain times, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles (Advancing Justice-LA) is here to be a community resource. As Californians practice social distancing and other preventative measures while observing the state-wide Safer At Home order, Advancing Justice-LA can still be reached by phone and direct services are still available.
As community concerns grow regarding unemployment and housing rights, our staff are able to quickly address these needs in the caller’s preferred language. Assistance is available in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Korean, Tagalog, Thai, and English.
“We want to reiterate that Advancing Justice-LA continues to be here for the community during these troubling times,” said founder Stewart Kwoh, “we want to ensure that our community members are able to access the services they need and if we cannot provide those services, we know many community organizations who can help.”
Along with assisting community members with their immediate questions regarding their livelihoods, Advancing Justice-LA continues to provide support for community members with citizenship, domestic violence, and immigration support services.
“Through the years Advancing Justice-LA has been a major leader in helping immigrants naturalize. We remain committed to providing citizenship and immigration services during this difficult time. Our staff is equipped to provide legal assistance remotely via phone and virtual platforms,” said Christine Chen, who is the Citizenship Project Director at Advancing Justice-LA.
Advancing Justice-LA’s mission continues to hold true during this time, as the organization continues to support the urgent needs of the Asian American community.
