Asian Americans Advancing Justice - LA

Building upon the legacy of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center

Free Voter Helplines in Five Asian Languages

Vote Center Monitoring Will Be Conducted in LA & Orange Counties
LOS ANGELES, CA — (October 6, 2020) — Beginning today, October 6 through election day November 3, free helplines for voters in Los Angeles County and Orange County will be available in six languages: Chinese, English, Korean, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese. Callers can receive help and clarification about the voting process such as registration, in-language resources, mail-in ballots, voting centers, and deadlines. In addition to these helplines, Asian Americans Advancing Justice Los Angeles (Advancing Justice-LA) will also be conducting vote center monitoring in collaboration with community partners in both counties. By ensuring language access, clarification and reassurance throughout the voting process, Advancing Justice-LA will help empower the diverse Asian American communities to exercise their democratic rights, and have a voice in matters that impact their quality of life and their community.
Monitoring vote centers and operating helplines are both efforts to educate and support Asian Americans, the fastest-growing voter bloc of the major ethnic groups in the United States. Asian Americans are the only major racial or ethnic group in which naturalized citizens–rather than U.S. born–make up a majority of eligible voters.
The Voter Helplines will be live during vote centers hours. Check frequently for updates.
  • 10/6 to 10/23: Callers can leave voice mail. Calls are returned within one business day.
  • 10/24 to 10/29: 10am-7pm
  • 10/30 to 11/2: 8am-8pm
  • 11/3: 7am-8pm
In-language translations of the included flyer are available for download.
