A majority of California voters are now opting to cast their votes using vote-by-mail (VBM) ballots rather than head to their assigned polling place on Election Day. During the November 2016 presidential election, over 8 million voters in California (58%) used VBM ballots, a 13% increase from previous presidential election. Asian American voters are using vote-by-mail (VBM) ballots in large numbers. Two-thirds (66%) of Asian Americans who voted in the November 2016 election cast their votes using a VBM ballot, a rate higher than average (58%).
