Communications Director

Under the supervision of the Co-Interim Executive Director, the Communications Director assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy that includes supporting the work plan and priorities of 11 different program areas and units, in addition to regional offices in Orange County and Sacramento, and Advancing Justice-LA’s fundraising priorities. The Communications Director is also responsible for overseeing a robust and nimble communications shop whose portfolio, in 2019, included over 40 press releases and affiliate statements, 15 press conferences, resulting in over 1,300 mainstream and ethnic media hits.
 
The Communications Director will lead a team with one other communications staff member and appropriate consultants/contractors. As a member of Advancing Justice-LA’s leadership team, the position is expected to work collaboratively with individual supervisors to ensure the effective and successful integration of the communications arm into all aspects of Advancing Justice-LA’s programs, policy campaigns, and services. The position will also work closely with the Advancing Justice-LA development team to generate organizational messaging and marketing materials that support fundraising for the organization. The position also works closely with Advancing Justice affiliate communications staff to broaden the impact of affiliate-wide communications projects and campaigns.

Asian Language Legal Intake Project (ALLIP) Program Director

Advancing Justice-LA seeks a Program Director to oversee operation of legal helplines that increase access to justice for low-income, limited English speaking immigrants. The Program Director will supervise advocates that conduct in-language legal intakes for all of Advancing Justice-LA’s substantive legal programs, including family law, domestic violence, immigration, employment, and civil rights. This position will report to the Interim Executive Director.

Staff Attorney - Workers Rights

As part of our Impact Litigation Unit and under the direction of the Supervising Attorney, the Staff Attorney – Workers’ Rights is responsible for performing client counseling and representation duties.  The Staff Attorney meets with and advises clients of legal rights and issues, conducts legal research and writing, prepares court forms, and performs other legal duties.  In addition, the Staff Attorney conducts Community Outreach and Education work, such as working with clients and their communities to organize meetings, workshops, and rallies.

Grants Systems Assistant

Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Grants Systems Director, the Grants Systems Assistant provides essential administrative support to the program to ensure key deliverables are met.  Duties include maintaining current grants database; assisting with the migration to a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system; and ensuring grants documents are timely submitted.  This position will also provide administrative assistant to the Grants Systems department and across the Development department as necessary.

Corporate Relations Manager

The Corporate Relations Manager, reporting to the Director of Individual Giving & Corporate Relations, will manage relationships with Advancing Justice-LA’s corporate partners and work primarily with the Development team to build and implement partnership growth strategies, fundraising plans, and strengthen corporate partnerships throughout the organization. This position is responsible for researching, preparing solicitations, submitting proposals and reports, and tracking opportunities for current and prospective corporate partners with the aim of meeting or exceeding annual financial goals. The Manager will also oversee the execution of Advancing Justice-LA’s special events including the organization’s Anniversary Dinner.

Development Officer

Under the direction of Director of Institutional Giving, the Development Officer works to secure financial support from foundation, government, and corporate grant makers.  They are involved with identifying prospects, proposal submissions, renewals when necessary, grant reporting, and ongoing communications with these supporters.  The Development Officer works cross-functionally and with the Executive Leadership to develop and achieve short and long-term development goals for the organization; this position also works with the organization’s strategic partners to identify donor programs, join initiatives, and enhance the organization’s marketability to potential donors.

Voting Rights Staff Attorney

For over three decades, Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Los Angeles has engaged in advocacy, community education, poll monitoring and litigation to secure the voting rights of AANHPI guaranteed by law. Advancing Justice-LA seeks an independent Voting Rights Attorney to lead efforts to ensure that minority and limited English speaking voters have full access to voting as required by the Voting Rights Act. In particular, the federal Voting Rights Act (VRA) protects racial and language minorities against discrimination in order to ensure their full and meaningful participation in the voting and electoral process.  In addition, the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) and many state and local laws provide additional protections against election irregularities.
