Building upon the legacy of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center



Maxine Hu serves as a Project Coordinator at Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Los Angeles. The major projects she works on include Global Chinese Philanthropy Initiative (GCPI) and Mandarin Excellence Initiative (MEI). She is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing project-related correspondences, meetings, conferences, and other events and activities. Bilingual in Mandarin and English, she also helps with cross-unit translation and interpreting to support advocacy and outreach in different fields such as higher education, health access, immigration, and citizenship.
Prior to joining Advancing Justice-LA, Maxine was a Civic Engagement Leadership Fellow (CELF) at Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment (CAUSE). During the fellowship program, she led the outreach to non-English-speaking Chinese immigrant communities for voter engagement.

Maxine graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting from China’s best foreign language university, Beijing Foreign Studies University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from University of Southern California.
