Project Director - Citizenship

Nasim Khansari is the Citizenship Project Director and a Department of Justice-accredited representative at Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Los Angeles. Khansari has been involved in the area of immigration for seven years, with a focus on immigrant integration. She began teaching ESL/civics courses at the Central American Resource Center in Los Angeles and shortly thereafter joined Advancing Justice-LA. In 2013, she advocated for and successfully secured funds to launch Advancing Justice-LA’s first ESL/civics program to serve the Asian American immigrant community of Los Angeles. 
Khansari currently supervises a dynamic team of 11 staff including both ESL/Civics instructors and legal staff providing full services in the area of naturalization to aspiring U.S. citizens. She also manages a national, statewide, and local network of Asian Pacific Islander-serving organizations helping to build and sustain capacity for naturalization work to the API community across the country. Khansari is  a board member of the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (A3PCON) and will graduate from Loyola Law School in December 2017 with her Juris Doctor.
