Project Director - Youth and Parent Leadership Development


Li'i Furumoto is Asian Americans Advancing Justice-LA’s Project Director of the Youth & Parent Leadership Development Unit (YPLD). The YPLD Unit at Advancing Justice serves 13 high schools in the Los Angeles area with innovative academic and leadership development programs.
Li'i has more than 15 years experience as an educator and community advocate including managing youth programs, training educators, developing curriculum and engaging in student and community organizing. She held numerous leadership roles which include co-founding UCLA Student Initiated Outreach Center, sitting at the Board of Directors of UMMA Community Clinic, and serving as a Commissioner with the City of Los Angeles Human Relations Commission.
Li’i earned her Bachelor of Arts & Teaching Credential from UCLA and attended LA Unified School District public schools for her K-12 education.
